Planning and carrying out a campaign to achieve anything!

Public defense systems are constantly setting new goals, trying to implement new and better ways of representing clients, devising community education programs, and working to convince budgeting bodies and policy-makers of the importance of effective representation for the poor in our criminal justice systems.  We all need a simple plan that we can easily follow to achieve these goals.  We are public defenders, so we want to keep our eye on providing the best representation to our clients, and we don't want process and procedures to get in our way.

Here is a resource that will help you plan and carry out an effective campaign to achieve any goal.  The Just Enough Planning Guide was prepared by Spitfire Strategies and the Communications Leadership Institute specifically for non-profit agencies and coalitions.  In their words:  "Designed to provide organizations and coalitions with just enough of a process for planning successful campaigns, the guide and accompanying tool gives groups a clear sense of where they are going, the best way to get there, and what to expect along the way.  Whether planning to pass a law, win popular support for an issue or organize a boycott, the Just Enough Planning Guide lives up to its name by providing you with nine steps (along with a host of tips, strategies and smart examples) to guide your planning efforts."  The Guide comes with a Planning Tool that lets you chart your plan and your progress in an easy-to-follow summary.

Spitfire Strategies offers a wealth of free tools for communications and campaign planning on their website.  Visit them, and learn more.
